So I got my hands on some new pictures of the BMW M1. It’s been 30 years since this car revolutionized the BMW and started the “M” or Motorsport division in the every day lives of the driver. All I can say is that’s it’s on sexy car!
Before I go one lets look at a little history behind the new M1. It debuted as a production car in 1978 and was the production of years of BMW racing. It came with a 3.5L 6 Cylinder engine which was known as the M88. This amazing car which started the whole M revolution was hand built all the way up to 1981 by the Motorsports division of BMW hence the “M” on such amazing cars as the M3, M5, M6 and hopefully with the rebirth of the M1. The original M1 is one of the rarest of BMW’s since they only produced about 456 of them but the very powerful and amazing hand built engine was also used in the first generation M5.

Now
So flash forward to the present and it’s clear to see that the new concept M1 is true to it’s historic roots. You can see a lot of the original M1’s sleek lines in the new version. They have done an amazing job of keeping a bit of the original and incorporating a lot of new lines and futuristic features to give the amazing M1 a make over.
Of course everyone is drooling for this car to become a reality and we can all hold our collective breaths until we here just a little bit more information about what is going to be under that beautiful hood. Until then we have to sit back and and window shop at the beautifully redesigned M1 by Giorgio Giugiaro.
